Ah, the UNITED FREQUENCIES OF TRANCE, VOL. 5, takes me back to the early rave days. Dark, swirling synths and breaks a-plenty ("Hymn to Ra") and melodic lines with Japanese samples and quasi-ethnic drumming("Kabuki Currency"). "I Need a Doctor" sticks closer to the traditional concept of trance with its hard-hitting beat and acid line, while "Chlll to Ra" takes the ambient approach, though for a bit too long though. It's nice to indulge in nostalgia once in a while, even if the works that bring it on aren't really that memorably.
